Salt Mine Hallein

In Bad Dürrnberg you can visit the old salt mine. Salt mining has a long history in the region and is vividly presented here – also for young audiences. Particularly exciting is sliding down into the depths of the mine on the specially constructed wooden slide.

Krimml Waterfalls

The famous Krimmler waterfalls are a popular destination. They are among the highest waterfalls in the world, dropping 380 m (1,246 feet). Visitors can enjoy this natural spectacle from mid-April to October.

World of the Ice Giants

The largest ice cave on Earth lies within the limestone of the Tennengebirges mountains, just 40 km (24 miles) south of Salzburg. You can experience the awe of its unique ice formations from May to October – at temperatures around freezing.

The Untersberg

The Untersberg is located close to Salzburg and its imposing image dominates the region. Also easily reached by bus, the Untersbergbahn cable car will take you to the 1,800 m (5,905 ft) high plateau where you will be rewarded with an incomparable view.

Mozart Bicycle Track

This path not only connects many important point of interest in the life of Mozart, but also provides the more serious biker with a wonderful landscape – from the lakes in the Salzkammergut to the Chiemsee lake in Baveria.

Tauern Bicycle Track

The Tauern bike path leads from Krimml to Passau and covers a total of 280 km (173 miles). The bike route Krimml – Salzburg runs along the beautiful Salzach river and due to the small difference in altitude is slightly downhill.
